Ballet- The foundation for all of types of dance. Ballet is the classical form of dance which focuses on proper body alignment, technique, coordination, grace, and flexibility. Students will learn French ballet terminology. All students are encouraged to enroll in ballet. Good ballet technique is the core for a successful dancer.
Tap- Students will learn the basic tap steps, combinations and rhythms. Classes will emphasis clear sounds and rhythms.
Jazz/Hip-Hop- Jazz and Hip-Hop will be blended to ensure that students are learning proper dance technique. Hip-Hop is the only form of dance that does not require ballet technique. It is a fast paced form of dance that combines street styles of dance. Hip-Hop is a very popular style of dance that can be viewed regularly on music videos.
Jazz- Classes focus on isolations, flexibility, rhythm and coordination. Students will be taught proper dance technique. Jazz is a form of dance that can be viewed on Broadway productions.
Lyrical- Classes are available for ages 7 and up. Classes combine ballet and jazz technique. Lyrical is a very expressive type of dance. The dancer often tells the mood and story of a song through their movements.
Liturgical- Ages 7 and up. Classes focus on lyrical technique with the emphasis on dancing for God through contemporary Christian based music. The class performs monthly in local churches and other community events. The groups focus is to spread the word of God’s love through dance. Prayer is part of each class.
Pointe- Ballet technique performed in hard toe shoes. Students can only enroll in Pointe per the artistic director’s discretion. Students taking Pointe must be enrolled in ballet.
Beginner Tumbling- Ages 3 to 5. Students will learn basic floor gymnastic skills. Students will learn proper balance, coordination and gymnastic technique.
Acro- Ages 6 and up. Students will learn to incorporate gymnastic skills with rhythm and dance. There are different levels established for proper student placement.
Mommy & Me- Ages 18 moths. to 3. Classes are designed to introduce toddlers to music, movement and dance. Classes will enhance the student’s socialization, listening and coordination skills. Basic dance and tumbling concepts will be taught to students with the assistance of their parent.
Combination Classes- Students ages 4 to 7 have the option of taking a one hour combination class. ½ hour ballet and ½ hour tap. They can also choose to take the ballet and tap separately. However, most students choose to take both to see which one they like. Students ages 3 and 4 have the option to take our popular Mini Dance Camp. Students are introduced to ballet, tap and tumbling during the one hour class. Students have the opportunity to explore basic gymnastic and dance skills. This class offers young students a chance to decide what type of dance they will like to join once they get older. Once a student reaches age 5 they are no longer eligible and must enroll into another type of dance they prefer.
Mini Dance Camp- Students age 3 & 4 will take 20 minutes each of Ballet, Tap and basic tumbling skills.
