   Star Performance Dance Company offers students a chance to experience dance at a competitive level. The intense training is for those that want to have a realistic look at life in the Arts. The company offers them a way to experience life on the stage and a way to show their extensive training to the community. Company members range from age 9 to 18 years of age. Each student will be placed in an appropriate level based on his or her ability. Company members are selected from our Summer Workshops and are required to attend the selection process during the summer. Company members are required to take ballet and a technique class in addition to company rehearsals.

 

2010 Rising Star Results

Star Performance Dance Company Takes 10 Regional Dance Titles and Top Rising Star Award

 

The Star Performance Dance Company from Duncansville, PA traveled to its first regional dance competition of the year on February 27th and 28th.  They attended the Rising Star Talent Productions dance competition in Pittsburgh where they brought home top honors including 10 regional championship titles and the “Rising Star Award”, awarded to Carley Ingold for her advanced teen solo routine titled “Mary Did You Know”.  The Rising Star Award is given to a single routine that the judges feel to be the most entertaining and one of the highest scoring acts of the entire competition, which was chosen out of 35 advanced teen solos.

Two junior solo performers, Madison Wadlinger and Alex Clingerman, outscored the intermediate level of the competition by scoring into the platinum category. They were promoted into the advanced level of the competition their first year as solo performers.

The company also received 5 Platinum awards, 26 Gold awards and 25 overall high score awards.  They also took home 25 1st place divisional trophies and 5 photogenic awards. There were over 180 dances from 7 dance companies from across the state.  Awards are as follows:

“Revenge of the Nerds” their production received a Platinum award, a 1st place divisional trophy, and won the top advanced junior super group championship title. They also received perfect choreography scores by Danielle Lykens and Shelly McCaffrey.

“Grease Melody” their junior musical theatre line received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 2nd place overall high award.

“Oz Melody” a junior musical theatre super group received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and took the top advanced junior super group championship title.

“That’s Not My Name” their junior jazz dance received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and won the top intermediate junior large group championship title.

“Nightmares” their open super group received a Gold award, a 1st place divisional trophy, and the top advanced level teen super group championship title.

“Deliver Me” a large group lyrical number received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 3rd place overall high award.

“Snowflake Waltz” a large group teen ballet received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 4th place advanced level overall high award.

“Mama” their teen small group number received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 5th place advanced level overall high award.

“Drummer Kick” a novelty line number received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and took the top advanced senior line championship title.

“Army at War” their senior character line received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 2nd place advanced level overall award.

“Music Box Dancer” an advanced ballet solo performed by Alex Clingerman received a Platinum award, 1st place divisional award, and received perfect choreography scores by Danielle Lykens.

“Mulan” an advanced junior lyrical solo performed by Madison Wadlinger received a Platinum award, 1st place divisional award, and received perfect choreography scores by Danielle Lykens.

“Girlfriend” an advanced junior jazz solo performed by Elizabeth McCaffrey received a Gold award and 2nd place divisional trophy.

“Note To God” an advanced junior lyrical solo performed by Elizabeth McCaffrey received a Gold award and 4th place divisional trophy.  She also took home 5th place overall high score in the junior soloist’s division.

“Little Bitty Pretty One” an advanced junior jazz solo performed by Alexis Quintero received a Gold award and 3rd place divisional trophy.

 

“My Destiny” an advanced junior lyrical solo performed by Kirsten Lykens received a Gold award and a 3rd place divisional trophy.

“I Had A Dream” an intermediate junior lyrical solo performed by Ashley VanVeenendaal received a Gold award, 1st place divisional award, and 2nd place overall high award.

“Sing, Sing, Sing” an intermediate junior tap solo performed by Serena Hunter received a Gold award, 1st place divisional award, and 2nd place overall high award.

“I Bruise Easily” an intermediate junior jazz solo performed by Kailey Day received a Gold award and 1st place divisional trophy.

“Suddenly I See” an intermediate junior lyrical solo performed by Allison Horvath received a Gold award and 2nd place divisional trophy.

“Look A Little Closer” an intermediate teen lyrical solo performed by Kara Wilt received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 1st place overall intermediate championship title.

“Esme’s Lullaby” an intermediate teen pointe solo performed by Nicholle Ventura received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 2nd place overall high award.

“Bella’s Lullaby” an intermediate teen ballet solo performed by Kayla Stern received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 3rd place overall high award.

“Lip Gloss” an intermediate teen jazz solo performed by Sydnee Morris received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 4th place overall high award.

“Taylor Swift’s Revenge” an intermediate teen character solo performed by Anna Gootz received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 5th place overall high award.

“Only Hope” an intermediate senior lyrical solo performed by Breanna McCaffrey received a Gold award, 1st place divisional trophy, and 1st place overall intermediate championship title.

“Mary Did You Know” an advance teen lyrical solo performed by Carley Ingold received a Platinum award, 1st place divisional trophy, 1st place overall award, the Rising Star Award and perfect choreography scores by Danielle Lykens.

“All For The Best” an advanced teen musical theatre solo performed by Chelsea Moses received a Gold award and 1st place divisional trophy.

“If My Friends Could See Me Now” an advanced teen musical theatre solo performed by Jenna Hall received a Gold award and 2nd place divisional trophy.

“Feeling Good” an advanced teen musical theatre solo performed by Amy O’Brien received a Gold award and 1st place divisional trophy.

“You Can’t Stop The Beat” an advanced musical theatre solo performed by Katie Speck received a Gold award and 1st place divisional trophy.

2009 Results

The Star Performance Dance Company Duncansville, traveled to Pittsburgh, PA to compete in the Rising Star and Sophisticated Dance regional dance competitions. The company has 57 members between the ages of ages 8 to 20. The company brought home 6 platinum and 43 gold/sophisticated gold awards between the two competitions. The company also received 11 championship titles and 19 top 5 overall awards. The company was awarded 3 special judges awards and six photogenic awards. Danielle Lykens (artistic director/owner) and Shelly Mccaffrey (instructor) both received perfect choreography scores. The company was awarded $500 towards nationals at Rising Star Talent Productions and the entire company was hand selected to be on the national dance team for Sophisticated Productions.
Championship title winners include: "Tarzan Melody" ( !2 and under super group), "Pirate Zombies" (13 and over super group), "Spanish Ballet" (12 and under small group), Alexis Quintero (12 and under solo), Kirsten Lykens ( 12 and under soloist), Chelsea Moses (junior solo), Katie Speck (teen solo), Amanda Wood (senior soloist), Daniele Bidoli (adult solo), Maya Jones(photogenic 12 and under), Amanda Wood (photogenic 13 and over).
Platinum Award Winners: character and lyrical dances, "Tinkerbell" and "Come to Jesus" ( performed by Elizabeth McCaffrey) , character dance, "Mary Did you Know" ( performed by Carley Ingold), open dance, "Pirate Zombies" and novelty dance, "Tarzan Melody" (both super groups) and a lyrical small group, "Better in Time" ( performed by Carley Ingold, Kirsten Lykens, Elizabeth McCaffrey, Chelsea Moses, Madison Wadlinger and Kara Wilt).
Special Judges Awards: Super Splits and Jumps Award: presented to Jenna Hall for her musical theatre solo, "If My Friends Could See Me Now". Pixie Dust Award : presented to Elizabeth McCaffrey for her lyrical solo "Tinkerbell". Beautiful Ballet Award: presented to "Spanish Ballet" ( performers include: Jenna Hall, Alexis Holt, Carley Ingold, Breanna McCaffrey, Courtney Michrina, Chelsea Moses, Amy O'Brien and Danielle Williams).
Photogenic Winners: Petite: Cassoundra Quntero, 3rd place, Junior: Maya Jones, first place, Lauren Wilt, 3rd place. Senior: Amanda Wood, first place, Breanna McCaffrey, second place, Alexis Holt, third place.
Perfect Choerography scores: " Pirate Zombies", "Spanish Ballet and "Mary Did You Know", (choreographed by Danielle Lykens), "Tarzan Melody"(choreographed by Shelly McCaffrey).

Gold Award Winners 13 and over: musical theater dance, "Money, Money" (4th place large group), and small group tap, "Jump, Dance, Swing" (performed by Carley Ingold, Breanna McCaffrey, Courtney Michrina, and Chelsea Moses).
Gold Award Winning Solos 12 and under include: lyrical and musical theater dances," Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and " Its Oh So Quiet " first place overall soloist (performed by Kirsten Lykens), jazz dance, " Little Bitty Pretty One " first place overall solo (performed by Alexis Quintero) , character dance "Cruella De Vil" 3rd place overall solo, (performed by Kylie Cappella).

2008 Wildwood, NJ National Results

Star Performance Dance Company traveled to Wildwood, NJ July 8th-11th to compete in the Rising Star National Dance Championships.  Artistic Director, Danielle Lykens, received top honors for her choreography for the number Hard Knock Life.  Hard Knock Life received a 1st Place Platinum and won the 12 & under Super Group Championship.  The number was also the 1st runner-up in the Shining Star Competition.  Instructor, Shelly McCaffrey and her group number Mary Poppins received a 1st Place Platinum and the 12 & under Line Championship.  Mary Poppins took 3rd place in the Shining Star Competition.  Only the top scoring dances are invited to compete in the Shining Star Dance Off Competition.    The Ballet group numbers Lavender Dreams and Flower Pot Ballet both received 1st Place Platinum scores and finished in the top five overall out of all the small group entries.  Other large group numbers receiving 1st Place high Golds include: These Boots, This is Halloween, Big Time Boppin' and New York, New York.  These numbers also finished in the top 5 for all large groups.  Welcome to the Jungle received a 1st Place High Gold and a 2nd Place overall in the line category.  Hey Mickey received a 1st Place High Gold and a 2nd Place overall in the supergroup category.    Ease on Down the Road, a musical theatre duet performed by Madison and Piper Wadlinger received a 1st Place Platinum and placed 4th overall in the duet category.  Paquita, a ballet duet performed by Carley Ingold and Chelsea Moses, received a 1st Place Gold.  Carley Ingold also won the Michael R. Del Bianco Memorial Dance Scholarship.  Mambo Queens, a character duet performed by Kylie Cappella and Anna Bidoli, received a 1st Place Gold.  We Are Siamese, a duet performed by Hannah Mulhern and Elizabeth McCaffrey, received a 1st Place Gold.  It's All About Me, a jazz duet performed by Sydnee Morris and Anna Gootz, received a 1st Place Gold.  Rockstar, an open duet number performed by Kara Wilt and Kayla Stern also received a 1st Place Gold.  A Hip Hop duet performed by Kirsten Lykens and Elizabeth McCaffrey, received a 1st Place Gold.  Just Around the Riverbend, performed by Kailey Day and Allison Horvath, received a 1st Place Gold.  I Enjoy Being a Girl, a musical theatre duet performed by Kirsten Lykens and Alexis Quintero, received a 1st Place Gold.  A tap duet , How High, performed by Amanda Wood and Toni Watt received a 1st Place Gold.   Top Solo's included Elizabeth McCaffrey performing I'm Fabulous received a 2nd Place Platinum and a 1st Place Gold for her character number Tinkerbell.  She finished 2nd overall in the 12 & under level 2 soloist category.  Kirsten Lykens received a 1st Place Gold for her solo numbers Cinderella and Over the Rainbow.  She finished 2nd Place overall in the Level 1 soloist category.  Jessica Schraff received a 1st Place Platinum for her ballet number, Grande Waltz, and finished 3rd overall in the 12 & under solo category.  Jessica also finished 2nd in the photgenic category.  Jenna Hall received a 1st Place Gold and took home the Level 1 Championship title in the 12 & under level 1 category for her musical theatre number, Showoff.  Toni Watt received a 1st Place Gold and took home the Senior Solo Championship title for her tap number, Drumline.  Amanda Wood received a 1st Place Gold for her solo, Mad Hot Mambo and took 3rd place overall.  Amanda also took home the National Photogenic award for 13 & over.  Alexis Holt received a 1st Place Gold and took 2nd overall for her tap number, Candyman.  Amy O'Brien took a 1st Place Gold and 2nd overall in the Jr. solo category in her musical theatre number, Walking Papers.  Allison Bearer took home a 1st Place Gold and a 3rd Place overall for her lyrical number, Decembers.  Danielle Williams took a 1st Place Gold and a 4th place overall for her lyrical number, Hallelujah.  Alexis Quintero won the National Photogenic in the 12 & under category with Kirsten Lykens finishing 5th and Kira Hicks coming in 6th

 

2008 Pittsburgh Regional Results

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2008 COMPANY FOR WINNING 6 PLATINUM AND 29 GOLD AWARDS AT THE RISING STAR REGIONAL TALENT COMPETITION.  THE COMPETITION TEAM ALSO RECEIVED 23 TOP 5 AWARDS IN NUMEROUS DIVISIONS, WHICH INCLUDED 6 CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES.  THE TEAM ALSO HAD 4 PHOTOGENIC AWARDS OF A 3RD, 2ND AND TWO 1ST PLACE FINISHES.  THE COMPANY ALSO BROUGHT HOME $550 IN CASH AWARDS.  GREAT JOB ON A VERY COMPETITIVE COMPETITION.  THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION.  THE COMPANY WILL COMPETE IN THE RISING STAR NATIONAL COMPETITION IN WILDWOOD, NJ THIS SUMMER.
