Policies

TUITION:
The monthly tuition is due the FIRST lesson of every month. Tuition payment envelopes will be available the last week of every month in the waiting room and must be dropped into the payment box inside the studio doors. Do not return your envelope back into the box in the waiting room. PLEASE CHECK YOUR ENVELOPE EVERY MONTH FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION! The fee remains the same, regardless of the number of weeks in the month, holidays, and snow days or extra curricular activities related to school.  Fees are based on a yearly curriculum.

  • A $ 10.00 late fee will automatically be charged if the tuition is not received by the 15th of each month. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
  • A $30.00 fee will be applied to all returned checks.
  • Any student with a 2-month outstanding balance will be suspended from class until the tuition is paid.
  • Tuition is non-refundable
  • Each sibling of an enrolled student will receive $5.00 off their monthly tuition.
  • Receive a 10% discount if you pay for the entire year upon registration.  To receive the discount, payments must be received by September 1st.  Discounts do not apply to competition fees or the unlimited class rate of $110/month.
  • There is a $15.00 non-refundable registration fee per family.


MISSED CLASS:
If a student cannot attend the regularly scheduled class, he or she may attend another similar class. Please call the school to notify the teacher. Every student must be on time. For the safety of the student it is imperative that the student does not miss the warm-up and stretching exercises at the beginning of class.

Continual participation is encouraged. IF A STUDENT MUST WITHDRAWAL, PLEASE MAKE A COURTESY CALL TO THE STUDIO. Tuition will continue to accrue until notification is received.


INSURANCE:
All students are required to be covered by their own insurance, if an injury occurs, it is understood that the student or family is responsible for any and all medical costs. All students and/or parents must sign a release form to participate in class.


SNOW DAYS:
In case of bad weather, please listen to WTAJ TV-10 for notification. You can call the studio after 3:00 at 814-695-5280 for a recorded message that specifically states that we are closed.  If the studio is open and you miss class due to bad weather, you will be considered absent. Note: We do not automatically close on snow days just because schools are closed. Many times the streets are cleared by the afternoon hours.


COSTUMES:
Costumes will be ordered in early December to ensure delivery in time for the recital. All costumes must be paid for in full before the order is placed. If you miss the deadline for ordering or enroll after the due date, an extra $10.00 charge will be added to cover shipping costs. Costume money is nonrefundable. Prices will range from $50-$70. A fundraiser will be available to help offset the costs of your costumes.

**NEW** A $20.00 non-refundable costume deposit for each class is due by October 15th.  This will be deducted from your total costume balance that will be due by Christmas break.


RECITAL:
The recital will be held in late May or early June. Video taping and photographs ARE NOT PERMITTED during the recital. You may take pictures at the dress rehearsal. All outstanding balances must be paid in full prior to participating in the recital or purchasing tickets.

PARTICIPATION IN THE RECITAL IS NOT A REQUIRMENT. If you do not plan on participating in the recital please let an instructor know.


COMPANY MEMBERS:
Being selected and asked to join the Company team is an honor and should be taken seriously. The Company team will be selected from the Summer Dance Camps. There will be travel involved along with fundraisers to help offset your competition fees and costume costs. Each company member will have their own fundraising account.  If a student decides to leave the company any and all fundraised money becomes property of Star Performance Dance Company.  The student must be willing to give 100% and participate in every practice. Missing a practice not only is detrimental to your own performance in the competitions, but your actions will also show in an entire group number. The Artistic Director will select Company members. Each group class will practice weekly. If a Company member misses more than 3 unexcused practices they will be dismissed from the team. THIS WILL BE ENFORCED! All Company members are required to enroll in Ballet and the Leaps, Jumps, Turns and Flexibility class in addition to the Company rehearsals.  Ballet is the core to all dance types! No Company member can dance for another dance school or participate in any other competitions independently unless granted permission from the Artistic Director.

ACRO REQUIREMENTS:

You must be at least 6 years old to participate in the Acro program.  Acro classes are broken down into four levels.  Your child will be placed into the correct level based on their ability.

Acro 1:  No prior gymnastic skills required

Acro 2:  Must be able to perform an unspotted back bend

Acro 3:  Must be able to perform an unspotted back walk over

Acro 4:  Must be able to perform an unspotted round off back handspring

Acro 5:  Must be able to perform an unspotted back tuck
