Danielle Lykens – Artistic Director/Owner


Artistic Director and owner Danielle Lykens began her formal dance training at the age of three. This is Danielle's 17th year of teaching and her 12th year as a studio owner.  She studied gymnastics and dance locally as well as  Central Pennsylvania Ballet, The Cecchetti Society, Pittsburgh Ballet and Steps on Broadway in New York City. She is a sought after judge for regional dance and cheer leading competitions.  Danielle was a stunt performer on the set of Indiana Jones at MGM Studios in Walt Disney World, Florida.  She danced with the professional modern dance company, Allied Motion.  She was a college level cheerleader and gymnast.  Danielle has attended numerous workshops and master level classes on all areas of dance and acro/gymnastics.  She has attended master workshops for teachers and studio owners.  She is certified with USAG(United States Gymnastics) and has her Zumba license. Danielle has choreographed for the show Chicago, choreographs  for local school plays, works at gymnastic intensives and does dance classes for day care students.
      Along with studying dance with Penn State she also has a B.S. degree in Social Work/Counseling from Saint Francis College.  She has worked with many families and children in all areas of need.
     Danielle and her students have received numerous awards at regional and national level dance competitions in all styles of dance.  She has been awarded "Best Choreography" and "Most Entertaining", "Shining Star", and "Rising Star" numerous times at regional and national competitions.  She has received over one hundred perfect choreography scores for her dance routines.  Her students and groups have won hundreds of Platinum, Ultimate Victory, first place finishes, high score awards, top five finishes and numerous championship dance titles in both regional and national events.  As well as numerous dance scholarships.  Danielle's students are often awarded and recognized competitively and locally for their sportsmanship and dance technique.
     Danielle's advanced students have danced with the stars of  "So You Think You Can Dance" and many incredible master teachers at dance intensives and workshops.  Her students have been accepted to dance with the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes, Broadway Dance Center, Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, Pittsburgh Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Philadelphia Ballet, Orlando Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Boston Ballet, Van Dyke and Company, and many many more.  Many Students have been awarded full and partial scholarships to prestigious workshops, summer dance intensives and high school and college  theatre/dance programs.
     Danielle was presented the "Super Studio Award" for Star Performance Dance Company out of 17 studios.  Star was selected for having the studio with the best technique, best sportsmanship, best showmanship, best choreography and for being the most entertaining studio to watch!
     Star Performance is the 1st dance academy in the area to introduce Liturgical(worship) dance to the community.  Danielle's goal is to spread Gods love through dance with this program.  Students of all faith are welcome with open arms.  Students have the opportunity to perform in the community and share their joy and love of God through dancing.  Danielle strives to make every student feel loved and part o the Star Dance family.  Every students success matters rather they are training to be a professional dancer or dance for fun.  Every child deserves the chance to dance!  To teach a child is a gift from God.


Lynzi Vandevander-Hip Hop/Jazz Instructor

vandevander6_#1 (1)Lynzi is a professional dancer that has been dancing since the age of 3 locally.  Lynzi has taken various styles of dance including Ballet, Tap, Cechetti, Jazz, Pointe and Hip Hop.  Lynzi is the Head Coach/Choreographer for the Nationally ranked competitive Hip Hop team, HipNotic, located in Altoona, PA.  HipNotic is a competitive group with Cheer Factor All-Stars under the direction of Camie Bickel.  She has been teaching dance since she was 16 years old.  Under Lynzi's conduction, HipNotics Senior team ranked 3rd at the U.S Finals in 2011.  HipNotic Youth ranked 3rd in 2012 and 2nd out of 17 teams in 2013 at the U.S. Finals. In 2012, HipNoticYouth was undefeated all season, competiting in 11 competitions.  In 2014, HipNotic Youth took the title of Overall Grand Champions of the entire dance competition(mini-senior ages) 4 times.  HipNotic Youth won 4th place in 2014 and holds the National title ranking of 3rd in the U.S.A.

Lynzi has traveled to Washington D.C. with Monsters of Hip Hop, taking choreography classes from Kevin Maher, Rhapsody, L.U.A.M., Chonique, Laura Edwards, NappyTabs, BBoy Flowmaster, Marty, Poppin' Pete and one  of Beyonces choreographers, Jaquel Knight.

Locally, Lynzi has also choreographed for the Mount Aloysius dance team in 2011-2012.  Lynzi is a nurse at Pyramid Healthcare in Duncansville, PA.   She has judged many talent shows locally.  Lynzi also specializes in Hip Hop Fitness.  This is an hour long class in which you are participating in the art of Hip Hop dance along with Fitness.  This is taught to up-beat songs to get your heart rate up and the colories burning. 

Lynzi is dedicated to the art of dance and takes pride in her work, along with teaching the craft.  Lynzi also stresses life lessons in her teachings such as respect, honesty, punctutation and kindness.
