Kim Scott was the mother-in-law of Danielle Lykens who was tragically killed on December 21, 2012 is a shooting at a church.  She was a women who loved life and lived it to the fullest.  She loved spending time with her family and especially her 3 grandchildren Austin, Kirsten, and Emmie.  She was always a person that helped others before she helped her self.  She was always volunteering at her church and the studio.  She loved all the students at Star Performance and would take time just to stop in and say hi to the students.  She was a women that always gave back to others and would have done anything to help people in need.  A joyful life that was taken too soon.

In honor of Kim and for the way she gave back to the community the Kim Scott Memorial Scholarship Award was started in 2013 to give students a chance to pursue their dancing career outside of Star Performance.  Two students are selected by the teachers at year end from our Student Of The Month nominees.  Two students are awarded a $500.00 scholarship each for them to pursue conventions, master workshops, auditions, and any dance related functions.
